Diego Rivera

Diego Rivera is one of the most important and popular modern Mexican painters. After his studies at the Academy of San Carlos in Mexico City, he first painted Cubist pictures, influenced by Picasso, Braque and Derain. Later, Diego Rivera developed his own style and with his bold, large-scale murals stimulated a revival of fresco painting in Latin America. His expressive works tell stories and give testimony to his Socialist beliefs. Diego Rivera was born in 1886 and died at the age of 70 in Mexico City.
