Albert Bierstadt was born in Germany in 1830 and grew up in Massachusetts. During his studies in Rome and Düsseldorf he was influenced by the landscape paintings of Romanticism. The renowned artist was elected to the National Academy in 1860. His works can be seen in many museums and galleries in the United States.
